Sleep is the third most important thing for our health. Because of this importance, many researchers are researching sleep and trying to help people have better sleep. In order to understand how much sleep is really important, you must know that people with insomnia (people who cannot sleep) can die! Also, people who sleep too less or too much, can develop health problems. Because of this, you should sleep between 6 and 8 hours every night. But, there are some problems that don’t allow you to sleep. We can call them sleep enemies. Usually they are:
1. TV, computer or other devices. If you use them too late, you cannot sleep.
2. Snoring. You or your husband/wife is snoring.
3. Neighbor’s TV.
4. Your dog is jumping on the bed or you can hear him licking or scratching.
5. You dream a lot.
7. You think about some things that make you worry.
8. Lights on a DVD player or TV.
9. Certain sounds.
10. Late coffee or exercise.
All of these reasons can be fixed easily. If you have problems with your pets, put them in another room and don’t allow them to enter into your bedroom. Turn off the TV, smartphone, computer or any other gadget 2 hours before you are planning to go to bed. Don’t drink coffee, Coca-Cola or anything that contains caffeine 4 hours before going to bed. The same situation is with the exercising. Do not exercise 2-3 hours before going to bed. If your spouse is snoring, try to sleep in separate rooms and visit a doctor. In many cases this problem can be solved easily.
